That’s really hard to say. Since great scientists in the past such as Marie Curie and Albert Einstein did not have access to all of the equipment we have today, we don’t know for sure how they would have fared in the modern scientific community. Today, due do advances in the speed of communication, scientists tend to collaborate a lot more than they did in the past. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate change (IPCC) is a prime example of how modern scientists are collaborating. Instead of saying that any one particular scientist is the smartest, we tend to look at their collective efforts instead.
