Yoga is a better choice if you are looking for a exercise that also clears the mind and decreases stress. Pilates is more of an exercise to build strength and to tone. Both methods are successful, its a personal choice.
Pilates emphasis core strength, and will help you develop amazing core and back strength. It also emphasizes toning and stretching. Yoga tends to emphasize balance, harmony and flow which aligns with the breath. Depending on which kind of yoga you choose to practice, yoga is in general a more well rounded workout addressing both body and mind. However, you can practice both to get the best out of both workouts.
