Just like any pet, you should do some research first to make sure that a ferret’s personality and needs are something that you can handle, and want to do on a daily basis.
Generally, ferrets live 8-10 years, and weigh between 2 and 4 pounds. It is not recommended that ferrets be kept in a cage, and should not be kept in a home with young children. Ferrets are very playful, and do best when they have a partner, or live as part of a group. Ferrets can also get sick or hurt easily, and you should be prepared (mentally and financially) for trips to the vet.
After dogs and cats, ferrets are very popular pets. If you have the lifstyle suitable to take care of a ferret, I would recommend them. Several places have them for sale.
