Would there be a problem with bringing all of the small diesel cars from Europe to the United States?

Diesel engines are more expensive to manufacture because they require additional components like turbochargers. The time it takes to recoup the $1500 – $3000 additional of a diesel engine is very long at current U.S. fuel prices.

Also, the NOx emissions from a European diesel engine exceed U.S. limits. To meet U.S. regulations, diesel engines are required to use expensive fuel injection and after-treatment systems to treat the NOx emissions.
