I think it’s ultimately unnecessary to have efficiency lanes on the freeways. Though there have been new fuel efficiency standards set for gas powered cars, ultimately, our automobile fleet should be replaced by electric cars or some other car that runs on renewable energy within the next 30 or so years. The amount of resources used to build efficiency lanes would be costly and unnecessary and we should be looking to supplant petroleum entirely. I’m optimistic that it will happen and the need for efficiency lanes will be unnecessary.
