Would it be better environmentally if everyone with bad eyesight got lasik surgery?

It seems on first thought that lasik surgery would indeed be more environmentally friendly, as one would do away with the plastic bottles of lens solution used by contact wearers, and the production and disposal problems presented by eyeglasses. There are, however, eco-friendly alternatives to traditional eyeglasses now available, namely frames comprised of wood and buffalo horn produced by a Paris company called Gold and Wood. However, one good argument in favor of eyeglasses is their reuse potential, especially in underdeveloped countries or areas of poverty.
