Considering the rate at which we are consuming resources and wreaking havoc on many ecosystems like the rain forests, it can safely be said that the human population on Earth is far above optimum. And it will only continue to grow. The Earth cannot support our population at our current standards of consumption.
This question is still has an opinion based answer. With just under 7 billion people in the world, some say that the world is overpopulated, while over’s think it is okay, we just need to work on solutions to accommodate the future human growth.
Yes. Here is a great article that explains the dangers of our current population situation: http://ezinearticles.com/?Human-Overpopulation-Causes,-Effects-and-Solutions&id=1985200 There are about 6.8 billion people on Earth, and all of these people need to use resources. This means a reduced water and food supply, along with a drastic decrease in natural resources. Our human population is using up more resources faster than the Earth can reproduce them. Collectively, humans, through their activities are sending enormous amounts of carbon and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and depleting the ozone layer. This is rapidly accelerating global warming. Take a look at the article for more information about this issue.
