President Obama does intend to get the White House LEED certified in the future by the U.S. Green Building Council, according to The Sierra Club. Christine Gluntz, the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) spokesperson says that this certification will include matters involving water, energy, and waste. The effort to reduce the White House’s carbon footprint will involve more efficient lighting , systems, and water systems. There will be emphasis on biodegradable equipment and recycling, of course. The main point is to reduce spending and maximize efficiency. Hopefully these goals will be accomplished soon but we know to expect it while Obama is still in term.
