Will we start to see China shutting down, or at least not producing more, coal plants?

Eventually, but not in the near future. China’s energy demand has skyrocketed in the last decade, and more and more coal plants have been built to supply for this demand. China’s government has made investments in energy efficiency and renewable energies, however. Once these laws really start to make a difference, China’s energy demand will decrease and be more sustainably satisfied. Only then will we see less operation coal plants.
