It already is becoming more popular. The first post and beam straw-bale building was built in 1936. After WWII, the popularity waned because other materials were finally available. But with the energy crisis of the 1970’s, and again today, we are seeing renewed interest. The aesthetics of these dwellings has made leaps and bounds, making them more popular all the time. And they have so many sustainability benefits. For instance, straw bale construction uses very little embodied energy compared to timber, and has a built-in insulation system.
