    Yes, water with a smell of sulfur usually contains high amounts of hydrogen sulfide gas which can be harmful to humans. It can lead to respiratory and digestive problems as well as irritate eyes and skin. Using a filter or boiling the water for several hours should help remove some of the bacteria and filter some of the traces of sulfuric compounds and other elements that may be trapped in the water.
