will other cities wait to see if boulders smart grid does well before they start doing it as well?

The introduction of a smart-grid system into any community would be an incredibly costly and time-consuming effort. Thus, the decision to incorporate new smart grids comes at the discretion of the energy provider.

In the case of Boulder, Colorado, the smart grid was made possible by a $100 million dollar project budget from Xcel Energy, the state’s largest private energy provider. The company is using the project as a test run to see how feasible the system is.
