Will the gulf of Mexico eventually fill up with mud?

It may, because without aquatic life to take root in the ocean floor and protect against erosion, the shorelines of the Gulf of Mexico may erode away into the gulf. This may be prevented, if we can restore the balance of dissolved oxygen in the water, which decaying red tide algae has depleted.
