will geothermal energy eventually pass solar energy for production?

The problem with solar energy is the fact that we haven’t perfected capturing solar power. Solar cells can only collect 10-15% of solar energy. Geothermal energy on the other hand would be relatively simple because it’s basically steam power. We’ve already mastered steam power. Geothermal works by pumping cold water into one whole in the earth’s crust and then having steam come out the other. I’ve attached articles that explain the advantages and disadvantages of geothermal energy. Here are the same for solar: http://www.chm.bris.ac.uk/webprojects2003/ledlie/advantages_of_solar_energy.htm

Until we have some examples of both types of energy, we will not be able to tell which one will be the best.
