Prices should continue to rise from about 100 dollars per barrel currently to about 135 per barrel in 2035. The rate of discovery for new oil wells has decreased dramatically in recent years this has led to many industry representatives speculating that the point of peak oil production has been reached. This is very likely because oil companies are beginning to develop oil resources like tar sands, and shale gas that would not be profitable unless other sources had been exhausted.
