Since the goal of the oil industry is to sell the oil, probably not. The price will rise as sources become scarce, but eventually another source of fuel will have to be found. Fossil fuels like oil are a limited resource, but as long as there is a supply for it and a demand for it, oil will continue to sell.
You never know. It may be a luxury in the future. It’s difficult to say how high the price of oil will be. I am sure people born half a decade ago wouldn’t think oil would be the price it is is today. So I can’t see why a century from now the price could skyrocket.
