Electric vehicle batteries actually have a more difficult time starting in colder climates because more power is needed to warm up the battery. There are various solutions to protecting the EV battery in a cold climate, including insulation or charging the battery right before starting it up. There are also battery heating systems that are available as well. Mini E Electric cars have also found that batteries have shorter charge in colder weather.
