Republicans certainly aren’t thrilled about it, and some view it as circumventing the system to enact a cap-and-trade policy without actually doing so. Presidential candidate Mitt Romney just recently voiced his displeasure for the EPA’s new regulations – if he’s elected to office he will not support such measures, and doesn’t believe that carbon poses a danger to human health. Technically, the EPA does not possess the authority to enact legislation. Congress rejected the proposal in 2010 and presumably will aim to strip the EPA of this policy.
