It seems that desertification and global warming go hand in hand, boosting each other. Deserts reduce the amount of land covered by plants, which consume carbon dioxide, hence further increasing greenhouse effect that causes global warming. In addition, desertification dries out trees resulting in forest fires, which release more carbon dioxide.
Good question, roth. Since desertification is when plant life disappears and land becomes barren, and plant life is what helps reduce co2 in the air, it is safe to say that desertification would make global warming worse.
Hope this helps!
