If left untreated in nature, deer antlers will eventually decompose. Antlers are a form of bones and in the right conditions, the antlers will break down. The conditions surrounding the antler will determine how long it takes to break down. Small rodents will often chew on deer antlers as they are a good source of calcium for small animals. Also certain soils, rain, and natural elements will determine the life of the antler in nature.
