Will California be able to attain its goal of having 33 percent renewable energy by the end of 2010?

The goal, stated in a 2008 executive order issued by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, is to have 33% of energy supplied by renewable sources by the year 2020, which is another ten years away. At this point it is certainly feasible; projects proposed last year alone would supply that much energy from alternative sources. The big question mark will of course be the economy. California is suffering more than most other states in the union, and unless all alternative energy projects are privatized, the deadline could be tougher to reach than anticipated.
