At this point I think that they will be tainted forever. When it originally happened, they still had a chance depending on how they handled it, but for the most part they ignored the warnings of the spill, didn’t do very much to clean it up, and are doing a poor job of helping the people who’s lives it has ruined. Exxon did a fine job of restoring their image even after the Exxon Valdez oil spill because they actually did a decent job of handling it, unlike BP. Perhaps (if they survive) in the distant future they will be able to restore some sort of positive image, but I don’t see them surviving long enough to do that.
