This is the topic of the article I just submitted to the site – it has not yet been posted, but look out for it (it should be up in the next day or so). There have been some extremely interesting developments in the field of algal-oil fuels that may suggest that they could become cost effective in ways which corn and soybean based fuels cannot. Namely the fact that we don’t use algae for food, which means algae based fuels do not have to compete with other uses. This theoretically will make them cheaper.
