Wildfires are caused mostly by lightning, which is not really air pollution, and by humans, which are also not air pollution.
Wildfires can result from both natural and human causes. The four major causes are lightning, volcanic eruption, sparks from rockfalls, and spontaneous combustion. However, human activity like slash and burn clearing or machinery sparks can lead directly to forest fires. As far as pollution goes, common wildfires in Vietnam have been attributed to sprayings and herbicides that were used during the war that have lived on in the air and soil.
