Gray wolves were taken off of the endangered species list for good reason. The program in which they were put to increase their population was successful, and they got to a level in which they are no longer considered endangered. Whether taking them off of the endangered species list will cause them to become endangered again is unknown, as of now their population is stable and at suitable numbers. It considered a conservation success story, and most agree that it should be used as an example for species conservation in the future.
