Why is the weather so constant in tropical areas?

The weather in tropical areas can often be anything but constant.  Monsoons, flash floods, cloudless skies, and lightning can all be seen in a single day in most areas of the tropics.  The one thing that does remain constant in the tropics, however, is the temperature.  This is due to how close the tropics are to the equator and the constant angle the sun shines at throughout the year.
