Who says that it still isn’t a hot topic. Just because an issue like acid rain may have been removed from mainstream media coverage doesn’t mean it is not longer a problem. The main reason why it was so publicized in years past is because people were finally seeing the effects first hand with their own eyes. Statues in metropolitan cities were starting to degrade and trees in forests were starting to decay for “no apparent reason.” Acid rain is still an extremely important issue especially in the Northeastern part of the U.S. where levels of sulfuric and nitric acids are the highest. The chemicals from our fossil fuels are polluting our air, water and land.
