There are many benefits to being vegan including better nutrition, disease prevention and physical benefits. “Following a healthy, balanced vegan diet ensures a host of health benefits as well as prevention of some of the major diseases striking people in North America.”
What brings people from vegetarianism to vegan-ism is the cruelty-free lifestyle. Vegan’s are in support of all animals and choose not only to not eat meat but also choose to wear any clothing or buy any articles made from animals.
Vegan-ism also promotes environmentally friendly agricultural production. The breeding and raising of livestock requires land, water, food, fertilizer and other resources that could be allocated towards food production for humans instead.
Finally, people choose vegan-ism over vegetarianism for health reasons. Consumption of animal fats and proteins (think milk and cheese for vegetarians) have been linked to numerous diseases.
It is a combination of these three things that are the main reasons people choose to go vegan.
