Why is there so much corruption in Africa?

I’d say because they are still struggling to meet the basic needs of survival.  Referencing Maslow’s heierarchy of needs, when the foundational level is not attained (in Africa’s case, the masses still do not have safety, health and food) then it creates a perceived atmosphere of scarcity.  To protect oneself becomes the primary objective, by any means necessary.

i agree with the above. However, there is also much corruption in the United States and other industrialized nations. Yet, these nations have the resources and ability to cover it up. Human needs and wants will always trump our ability to protect the environment. It is just a matter of how much? And is it to late?
