Why is there food shortages in certain areas, is it a distribution problem or a quantity problem?

I think it is a distribution and a quality problem. Some areas of the world are overproducing certain crops and can’t transport them to where they are needed. But also, some of the food that does get to where food is needed is not nutritious enough to help the situation that the people are in. Malnutrition is the condition where the person is getting calories, but they are not getting the right nutrients to stay healthy. Undernourishment is not getting enough food in general. In many parts of our country, people maybe overnourished because they are eating double or more of the calories their body actually needs.
