Tesla was the first auto manufacturer to (re)start producing electric vehicles in the last decade. They started with a high-end sports car that would go over 200 miles per charge. Back in 2007, they were pretty much the only name in electric than anybody could point to and say that they were actually doing something. Some people credit them with being the driving force behind the getting other auto manufacturers to voluntarily produce electric cars. Now, they are working on a mass-market electric car known as the “Model S” that will be more affordable to the general public. Given that Tesla has spent more time engineering their electric cars than Nissan and other manufacturers who have only recently released their cars, consumers expect Tesla’s model to be better.
