Where is the food coming from? If it is being imported or transported from far away, the high cost might be from transportation and other related costs. Are the foods special in any way? Like are they organic, rare, or difficult to grow? That may also factor into the prices. My last guess would be that the raw food is a trendy thing, like how organic used to be more high profile than it is now, so they want to make it a special experience (aka more exclusive=more expensive).
