The blue color of the sky is not its true color. The sky appears blue because of reflection and refraction of the sun’s light, caused by particles and gases in the atmosphere. Light is scattered in our atmosphere, and blue is the color most absorbed. Hence, the sky looks blue. In space, we are outside of our atmosphere, and that color refraction/absorption/reflection nonsense doesn’t occur. This is the same reason why the sun looks yellow on Earth, but is really white in space.
