The United States is under intense scrutiny by the global community for a lack of commitment to truly addressing the problems associated with climate change. Especially in preparation for climate talks in Copenhagen in December, the US needs to show not only the ability to handle climate change at home, but also the ability to lead the world in this global effort. By making a more aggressive climate bill, Senators Kerry and Boxer helped to make it clear the US is prepared to take action against carbon emissions and the climate change they are causing.
