Why is rice not as much of a staple in America as it is in almost every other country?

Rice may not be a staple food in the US because the first people to inhabit America did not eat rice coupled with the fact that it was not readily available at the time. People eat rice in other countries because meat is not abundant or it is too expensive, and rice grains can produce a much more filling meal whereas in America, when the first settlers came, there were abundant turkeys and corn.

It’s not as easy to make in America.  In other countries, the regions are ideal for growing rice, so for years it has been crucial to their diets.  In America, we focus more on corn because that’s easier to grow.  Also, many of the traditional dishes in America reflect this and use less rice.
