Why is rBGH used in dairy cows?

RBGH is a growth hormone used in cows.  It’s meant to help keep female cows lactating so they can produce milk for human consumption.  It forces them to produce more milk than they normally would, which is why many dairy farmers see it as dangerous.  While its effects on humans are yet to be determined, rBGH continues to be used to do its production benefits.
