iPVC – polyvinyl chloride – or more commonly known as vinyl, is dangerous both in the manufacturing, it’s use and it’s disposal. The reason it is so dangerous is that it is one of the world’s largest sources of dioxin and some other very toxic contaminants such as furans, vinyl chloride, phthalates and many others. It has been used in packaging, home furnishings, children’s toys, building supplies and more. It continues to be manufactured because it is easier to use than some other products and it is inexpensive. Substitutes for it may include clay, glass, and ceramics.
