Why is population growth so important?

The main negative effect of population growth is that it increases the strain placed on natural resources. More people means more pollution and more consumption on a planet that is already over taxed in both of these areas.

Population growth is also important for people to study so that they can figure out what to do in the future. Not only do we have to better manage the “strain placed on natural resources” but also how to predict supply and demand patterns so as to be ready for when the time comes. I would recommend some Malthus readings if you have any spare time..
