The sinple way putting it is that plastic derives crude oil and isn’t biodegradable by modern definition because it would take hundreds of years to break down under normal circumstances in one of our landfills. Therefore it better to recycle! No supporting site needed!

There are items that are difficult or unable to be recycled at this time, so landfill space should be reserved for those items. We don’t want to waste land that could be used for farms, houses, businesses, etc. with waste items that can be reused. Plastic bags can be recycled to make new bags. In addition, it can take bags 500-1000 years to break down in a landfill.
