DDT hurt peregrine falcons immensely. First, it is ingested by insects. Then those insects are eaten by other animals, which falcons eat. This concentrated the DDT levels in peregrine falcons and sometimes was a direct cause of death. It also caused females to lay eggs with thin shells, and caused abnormal behavior.
