Why is penicillin so good for stopping colds?

    Penicillin antibiotics will not treat a viral infection such as the common cold or flu. It is intended to treat bacteria caused ailments, such as infection. It interfers with the formation of the bacteria’s cell wall, weakening the wall and killing the bacteria.

    Penicillin is a group of antibiotics that interferes with the formation of the cell wall of bacteria.  Because it weakens the cell wall while it is growing, the penicillin kills the bacteria.  This not only make penicillin useful in fighting colds, but any bacterial infections, including syphilis and staphylococcus infection.
