Why is northern California greener?

    One of the reasons northern California is greener is the amount of precipitation it receives. The first link below sends you to a map of US precipitation, and it clearly shows that the northern part of California receives more rain. With more moisture, the plants in northern California thrive more than they do in southern California, which is more prone to hot weather and desert-like conditions than northern California
