The Nissan Leaf and the Chevy volt are very different cars, targeting very different markets. The Nissan Leaf just happens to have a wider market. It offers zero-emmissions, 100 mpg, and it is even cheaper. While the Chevy Volt is targeted towards people who want to have a gas powered generator to power the electric engine–making a car that will always run as long as there is a bit of gas in the generator. Though it is 100%~ electric, it does offer this extra option; a nice edition that makes the vehicle a bit more expensive. Based on vehicle performance however, it only estimates 40 mpg; better than most, but the leaf.
