Why is mountain top removal so little-recognized as an environmental problem?

The problem is likely due to the fact that mountaintop mining is more closely associated with coal mining, something that a large percentage of people are not concerned about simply because they don’t know enough about it. Environmental groups have instead made oil drilling a focus issue.
