Why is climate change losing importance in Australian politics?

For a long time climate change was a very serious issue in Australia. They had both widespread, long term drought and a government that, opposing the beliefs of the majority of Australians, denied man’s hand in global warming. The new government does believe that global warming is caused by man and has taken measures to fight it. Thus, this issue has fallen from the forefront as people are becoming satisfied that something is being done about global warming.
