Why is littering bad?

The above answer covers the main points, but I would like to add that is just supports the laziness that is infecting the United States. People have seemed to stop caring about the overall vision of the landscape, which is unfortunate in my opinion.

Littering pollutes the environment.  It also hurts wildlife species that either ingest the littered material or get caught in it.  Littering scars the landscape — the littered material usually can’t be broken down naturally (plastic), and therefore inhibits natural processes from taking place such as photosynthesis. Littering is not only an eyesore, it is extremely detrimental to the fragile ecosystems of this planet.
