    Kobe beef is so expensive because of all the effort that goes in to making it. The cows have to be specific kinds of cows and that very specific treatment. They are feed grass and grains as a part of a high fat diet and given warm sake. They are also massaged to increase the tenderness of the meat. KObe beef is known for its incredible tenderness and fat marbling.
