While many states have already banned, or are moving toward formally banning bisephenol-A, the potentially endocrine disrupting chemical better known as BPA, other areas, such as Oregon, feel as though the companies producing the products will just work those problems out on their own. The primary concern was over BPA in baby bottles and sippy cups, and after a huge outcry against it, the majority of the companies producing those products either recalled them or stopped production. Oregon hesitates to legally ban the substance because it’s apparently used to line canned food, and state officials worry about hurting the state’s food processing facilities.
