There are so many benefits to utilizing public transit, including economic, health, and environmental, that it is very surprising more people do not take advantage of these services. However, people are used to living in a world of convenience and public transit is not perceived to have the same level of comfort and convenience as owning and operating a personal vehicle. In addition, some people have jobs or homes in regions outside the reach of public transit. The main challenge to overcome, therefore, are the misconceptions of driving a personal car being more convenient and desirable than public transit. Old habits are hard to break, as the saying goes.
