Why is it important to reduce fracking?

The main reason for the call to regulate fracking (short for Hydraulic Fracturing), is that the chemicals used in fracking can seep through the ground and contaminate water supplies.

Hydraulic fracturing is the process of injecting a “trade secret” mix of chemicals (which varies from company to company) into the ground to fracture it, increasing the flow of gas or oil from an underground reserve.
